Frequently Asked Questions

What is copywriting?

Copywriting is written content that encourages you to take action. Copy is everywhere — websites, emails, blogs, social media, brochures, signs, billboards… the list goes on! These all persuade you to do something like sign up, follow, comment or buy.

Why should I invest in copywriting?

Because it’s what makes people buy! Seriously, copywriting is key to a successful business. Just like a cool logo, copywriting makes you look legit. It communicates your brand and connects with your audience. Even great writers employ copywriters to market their business through words.

Are you qualified?

I have a double major in Professional Writing and Publishing and Literary and Cultural Studies from Curtin University. I also have a Diploma of Business Marketing. Oh, and I’m a nerd so I’m always upskilling! I’m part of the Clever Copywriting Community and I’ve completed the SEO Recipe for Success course. So in short: yes.

What’s your experience?

After I learnt how to write the perfect job ad at a recruitment agency, I worked at Scoop Publishing as a staff writer. I freelanced for other publications such as Broadsheet Media, Xpress and Brag. I’m the resident (well, off-site) writer for well-known agencies in Perth. I’ve written copy for artists, designers, photographers, restaurants, food products, skin specialists, beauty therapists, web designers and the list goes on. See my work here.

What kind of copywriting projects do you take on?

I primarily write copy for creatives — artists, designers, photographers, and food producers. I also specialise in creating a brand voice you can use online. Don’t consider yourself creative? That’s okay! I write for other industries too.

How do I know you’re the right copywriter for me?

By giving me a big ol’ stalk. Seriously, stalk away! If you still vibe with me, we can have a chat. I believe there’s a copywriter out there for everyone. Go with your gut — that’s what I do.

What does SEO mean?

Search Engine Optimisation. It’s the process of optimising your website so you rank better on Google, and other similar search engines. Read more about it here and here.

Are you a proofreader?

No. Proofreading is a special skill. Proofreaders pick up spelling and grammatical errors once your copy is completely finished. Although some copywriters write and proofread, I don’t. I write and edit copy. I do send your work to a proofreader once I’m finished writing it though.

How much do copywriters charge?

Like most price lists, it depends on the copywriter’s experience and industry. My websites start from $1440, blogs from $240, and brand voice guides from $1020. It’s best to get in touch, so I can quote specifically for your project.

How many changes are included in your prices?

Two edits are included in all my prices. This means if you’re not happy with the first version, or you would like a few things changed, I’ll edit it free of charge.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. I require a 50% deposit before I start working. This is to lock in your project and to make us both feel secure in our transaction. Unfortunately, some people grab the work and run, so this is industry standard.

I’m not in Perth. Can you still write my copy?

Sure can! Most of my work is done remotely, so it’s no problem. We can chat on Zoom and liaise online.

How long is your wait time?

I’m usually booked at least four weeks in advance. I may be able to fit in smaller jobs though. Just get in touch and I’ll let you know.

How long does copywriting take?

It depends. A blog takes a few hours and a website can take a couple of weeks, depending on how long it takes us to go through edits. You can let me know your deadline and we’ll work out the ideal timeframe.
