Red Eclectic
A values-driven brand and website copy for an intentional, eco-conscious photographer.
The brief
Kat is an intentional, eco-conscious elopement wedding photographer who makes cool people look even cooler.
She had been in the wedding game for a few years when she approached me to define her brand, write her website copy, and devise a strategy for SEO.
Kat wanted to be known as a fun, laid-back photographer while providing creative direction and all-around support on the big day.
As someone conscious of their impact on the world, Kat wanted her website to communicate her values and resonate with chilled-out folk who live with intention.
The discovery
I soon realised Kat is a creative, down-to-earth and quirky person – my kind of gal!
She’s all about being true to herself and wants to inspire others to do the same.
I learned that Kat’s ultimate goal in wedding photography was to create an experience that felt like hanging out with a best mate.
Kat cares deeply about her impact on the world, which I respect. I knew immediately I wanted this aspect of her personality to come through in her brand.
The audience
Kat’s audience is socially conscious women (30+) who are laid-back and genuine and aren't afraid to show their goofy side.
These clients prefer working with people who share their values and are intentional about where they spend their money.
They feel awkward getting their photo taken, so they need a photographer who can make them feel relaxed and comfortable.
The essence
Kat wanted readers to feel excited to embrace their individuality. "Love the feeling of being you" was our guiding principle for the project and a loose framework for messaging. The essence of the brand was one of eclectic experiences.
The tone
Red Eclectic’s tone is a reflection of Kat’s warm, down-to-earth personality. Kat makes jokes, asks questions, and invites her audience into the experience so they feel part of the "gang". While reading Kat’s copy, readers envision a fun day with friends.
The values
Communicating values is essential to attracting like-minded people. Kat knew what she valued, but wasn't sure how to express her beliefs through her brand. We had lengthy discussions about how Kat’s intentional lifestyle showed up in her work. I shaped what she finds important into brand values that appealed to her audience.
The copy
The best photos often capture moments of play, when people let go and are unaware of the camera.
I wanted the copy for the Red Eclectic’s website to feel similar – fun, playful and spontaneous, almost as if Kat was writing notes in a diary and her ideal client came across it.
As an avid reader and writer, Kat knew good writing. She was highly collaborative, and this meant we could workshop the copy together.
This meant Kat felt like she had a say in the writing and the final draft felt more personal as a result.
The SEO strategy
Most engaged couples search "Perth wedding photographer" – but good luck ranking for that without a massive SEO budget.
The smart play? Go after niche keywords your competitors ignore.
Red Eclectic's audience wasn't searching for generic wedding photographers.
They wanted someone who matched their vibe – typing in terms like "elopement photographer" instead.
These keywords had decent search volume but way less competition, so I built Kat's entire SEO strategy around them.
The outcome
Red Eclectic has become one of Perth's most sought-after elopement wedding photographers, known for her intentional approach.
She is the editor of the eco-ethical wedding blog Less Stuff - More Meaning, and was featured on Polka Dot Wedding’s Feel Good Wedding podcast.
Kat has been featured in Hello May, Together Journal and Polka Dot Weddings.
Red Eclectic ranks no. 1 on Google for “Perth wedding photographer” and no. 1 for "Perth elopement photographer”, receiving a steady stream of enquiries.
“Naomi helped me with my brand strategy and website copy, and I'm so happy with the results! She was an absolute pleasure to work with. Our strategy session was amazing. She uncovered more about my business and brand than I could have discovered myself.”
